Watermelon pear seedlings give a medium-sized fruit whose flesh is dark red, so it resembles a watermelon, after which this type of pear was named. The taste is sweet and sour, and ripens around mid-August. Yields are regular and abundant. It belongs to the group of older pear varieties.
