ZUPLJANKA WINE VARIETY

ZUPLJANKA WINE VARIETY

Zupljanka is a wine variety of white grapes created by fertilization of “black” parents: Prokupac and Pinot Noir. According to the results of scientific tests that confirmed good yield, high sugar content in grapes (about 21%, and in good years up to 24%) and total acidity (8-11 g / l), but also good resistance to gray mold, this is variety the most successful mixed breed prof. D. Milisavljević and his associates. Due to the upright growing shoots, it is suitable for machine cultivation of vineyards. So far, it is mostly grown in the Fruška Gora vineyards, but its planting is also recommended in other vineyard areas. At the same time, care should be taken about its sensitivity to downy mildew and the possibility of freezing in winter (therefore, appropriate protection should be implemented and planting in cold lower positions should be avoided). By processing its grapes, wines of exceptional quality are obtained, which is confirmed by the example that in 1979 she was declared the champion at the evaluation in Ljubljana.

Maturation period: Early October
